Transportation: Getting Around Lower Town

Lower Town offers many ways to get around the city. Along with numerous bike paths and walkways, there are many OC Transpo bus routes that service residential areas: 1, 5, 7, and 9. In addition, access to many more bus routes are available at the Rideau Street transit station, a close walk away. These routes will take you to the key points in Ottawa and serve the many transfer hubs that allow access to other routes. The Queensway, bridges to Quebec, and the University of Ottawa are within close access.

The neighbourhood offers two public schools: York Street Public School and Ecole Elementaire Publique De La Salle. Lower Town is home to a wide range of parks, including Bessererer, Bordeleau and Cathcart as well as Jules Morin and MacDonald Gardens. As well, the Lower Town Pool offers a variety of recreational programs, including public swims and aqua-fitness classes.
