Barclays Plc has appointed Ryan Voegeli as its new head of investment banking in Canada. In his new role, Voegeli will join the firm’s team in Toronto.
Voegeli has been in the industry for more than 20 years. He previously served as the head of global diversified industries investment banking at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Prior to this, he served at what was then known as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, overseeing Canadian technology, media and telecom banking.
He has taken part in many high-profile deals, according to a statement seen by Bloomberg News. This includes advising the special board committee of Shaw Communications Inc. on its CA$20 billion sale to Rogers Communications Inc. in 2021. The transaction, which was considered one of the largest corporate mergers in Canadian history, closed in April last year.
